Hello Everyone,
For the past few weeks I've been asking everyone's advice from forum to forum on aftermarket upgrades for a Lenovo w530 I'm getting.
I didn't actually know that there was an aftermarket forum section on Notebook Review, so I decided to post my (somewhat) finalized shopping list here for the last time to gain some last minute wisdom from y'all before I take the leap & start buying everything.
I'm primarily going to be using the machine for work, encoding/ editing hd video, motion graphics/ flash animation, and some sound design all on adobe production suite cs6. And also, some 3d rendering/ modeling on 3d studio max.
Here is the list I have so far:
Internal Upgrades:
1.) Crucial M4 CT512M4SSD1 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC 7mm Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
2.) Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2), 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 memory module **I'm getting two of these kits for a total of 32G RAM**
3.) Panasonic UJ240 6x Blu-ray Burner BD-RE/8x DVD±RW DL SATA Drive (Black)
External Accessories:
4.) Datacolor Spyder4Elite Display Calibration System
5.) Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" LED Monitor **I'm getting 2-3 of these**
6.) Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3 TB USB 3.0
One thing I would really like is a recommendation for a great backpack of the w530...
...perhaps the SYNERGY 15.6" Computer Backpack by Wenger SwissGear ?
...or maybe the Targus 16” Shift Plus Backpack?
As always, any thoughts or suggestions on the products & upgrades I have chosen are greatly appreciated...
Thank you very much.

Just a minor point, are you getting the Home or Pro version? Home does not support 32GB of RAM.
That targus is not really a backpack. Do you prefer the backpack form factor or that shoulder sling thing (what's it called?)? -
WHOOPS! Thanks for catching that. I totally screwed up the link on the backpack:
Targus 16” Shift Plus Backpack
That should be correct.
And, no, I'm not getting a purse/murse (that's what I call 'em) for my laptop.
Uh... and yes, I'm getting pro. I'm not cheaping out on the processor, graphics card, keyboard, or the screen either; I'm just minimizing stuff that I know I can upgrade myself (ie. ram, ssd, optical drive).
