The M780G chipset in your notebook supports up to 8GB RAM. Graphics upgrade is not possible for your notebook, the HD 3200 is soldered onto the mainboard. The MD7826u is the only one in the MD line-up that uses MXM upgradeable graphics module.

I would think the maximum memory support is 4GB in your laptop.
The M780G does support 8Gb, but most desktops which use that chipset have 4 memory slots, so you can install four 2GB memory sticks. Your laptop only has two memory slots so I would think 4GB is the maximum memory for your system.

Is there a reason you need more than 4Gb of memory?

I'm assuming that you know there are 4GB SO-DIMM modules, right? My MSI and ASUS notebooks have booted up successfully with it, so I would think it's going to be one of those things that you have to try for yourself.

hmm.. i have 2x2gb 667Mhz.. i would want around 6gb-8gb if it is possible @800Mhz? for my rams that is.
I also want an internal bluetooth but i have no clue which card will support it. From the Drivers list on Gateway, the drivers are from Broadcom.

edit: the reason why i would want more is that i can pass on the 2x2gb rams onto my other notebooks :D

Gateway states that the maximum memory capacity is 4Gb of PC6400 memory
    Just as I thought.
TRF-Inferno states that it will support 8gb, but it will not.
I know their are 4Gb dimms, thats not the point.
The M780G may support 8Gb, but since the chipset also supports a memory density, he will not be able to install more than 4GB in his laptop.

    667. 800 will be clocked to 667 if you install it.

I'm looking around for the G.Skill 2x4GB DDR2-667 kit that was on Newegg a bit back. Anyone know where else I can find it?

You have an AMD, so your memory should operate at 800Mhz.
However if you have 667Mhz memory in yours now, it will not show any noticeable difference by bumping the memory to 800Mhz speed.

it is kind of weird when i reload the window experience index..
my 3gb scored the same things.. but graphics were much lower
    Before it score was..
    4.9 CPU, 5.4 rams, 3.0 graphics, 3.5 gaming graphics, 5.3 hard drive
after installing 4gb ram.. the score went a little higher
    4.9 CPU, 5.4 rams, 3.5 graphics, 3.7 gaming graphics, 5.3 hard drive..
does amd have something to due with the rams increasing graphics?

    Runtohell,

the bluetooth module should be Broadcom BCM 92045NMD with 8 wire cable, about 3" long. the standard set up which Gateway install in the notebooks. however i can't be sure 100 % about what will fit in your case ,because there is no component list and/or service manual available for your laptop on Gateway site.
    http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2009/Ajax2/MD26/MD26nv.shtml

the module you can buy at the e-bay, look for this one or similar:

i will try to look around, maybe find more. cheers!
