My Mother in Law bought this laptop for basic surfing the web, and doing her billing etc. But, it went into some crazy hP diagnostic loop and she called me over. For the life of me, I could never get it to boot properly, into safe mode, nothing.
Finally I was able to restore it to an earlier date. Its running , but kinda slow..
I am wondering if I can do two upgrades, a ac wifi chip and increase memory to at least 8gb...
WIfi chip is the Realtek RTL882ICE which is AC...
Of so, what chip will work and memory.
Here is the laptop.
HP Laptop 15-da0005ds Intel Celeron N4000 (1.10 GHz) 4 GB Memory 1 TB HDD Intel UHD Graphics 600 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
Thnx in advance.

Do her a favor: ditch that POS laptop and get something sane like a ThinkPad or Latitude with at least a Haswell CPU. N4000 is ridiculously slow.
If you really insist on keeping that piece of garbage HP: SSD and 8GB RAM, if it can be upgraded at all.Steve40th likes this. -
I agree, its not much. She, 75 years old, bought it online, and thought it was good. She doesnt know much about laptops or operations. Her daughter, my wife, and I will correct this..

Going by Crucial:

There is one RAM slot, so you can replace the current stick with a 8GB one, the WiFi card should be an m.2 module, but not sure about that. -

Since the laptop has a spinning hard drive, it should be upgradable to a 2.5-inch SSD. Prices have come down a lot over the last several months, and you can get a 512 GB one, which should be more than enough for an elderly person, for $50 or less.

SSD makes a huge difference. I didnt realize prices were that low.. Nice

StormJumper Notebook Virtuoso
Being as that is a soldered CPU (BGA) the best scenario is to sell that and get a newer laptop.
