Hey guys. After an accident 24 hours ago, my backlight no longer works. Not sure if it's the inverter or the backlight itself, but the screen is luckily uncracked.
What do you guys recommend? Should I buy an inverter oneline, swap it out, and check?
Or, should I get a backlight, replace it, then check.
Or I can just go ahead and replace the whole screen.
So, my question is, I'm trying to figure out what's going to be compatible with it.
I figured I'll just replace the whole screen because I wanted WXGA+ anyway - tired of limited room. I think WSXGA+ might strain my eyes a little too much.
Anyways, I know how to use the search function, plus I've replaced screens before (I fixed the girlfriend's roommate's MacBook for $70 - Apple wanted $700 to fix the screen. Damn.), so I'm not here for the how.
I just want to know what issues I'm going to expect with compatibility. Now, these things don't usually come with inverters so I'll probably order a new one (just 12 bucks. not too bad at all), but I want to make sure. Any old generic "XPS M1530" inverter should work?
I found the screen I wanted for $110 here ( Compuvest Corp.. So I'm e-mailing them to ensure it's the original LG part LPLDF00, but in the meantime, I'd like to know if anyone had any problems switching.
I bought mine before they sold the 1440x900 screens with the M1530. Should the early M1530's be compatible with it? Since it's convenient I'd rather just upgrade my screen because I've always wanted to.
So, basic question, if I get the part should I be expecting and hangups or something else to do?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Backlight generally aren't user replaceable and are generally a pain to do. I would try the inverter first.
You may however be unlucky enough to have a defective motherboard connection for the LVDS cable.
Also be careful with the XPS M1530 LCD bezel. It is double sided taped on and you will need a plastic scribe or gingerly pry it off with a flat head or it will be cracked. -
So I got a new screen and it works great.
Except for the backlight.
I replaced the screen (and with it the backlight, obviously), and the inverter. Yet the backlight is now working. Still.
How is this happening? Super frustrating.
