Hi this is my first post but I have been reading this forum ever since I bought my Circuit City Exclusive (Free Upgraded CPU & DVD Burner) ACER ASPIRE 3002 June 2005. The Laptop has worked perfectly except I never really liked the heat coming from the underside. I traced the heat to the minipci wireless card. Left it at that since it always worked fine for web browsing and e-mails.
2 weeks ago I started downloading heavily through wireless and my connectivity would jam. I had to reboot to get the wireless up and running again. I can only conclude that the minipci wireless chip is overheating.
I don't want to send it in to ACER cause I need the laptop and I fear they will just replace it with the same model minipci wireless card or just not tax the wireless chip enough to recreate my problem.
Can anyone tell me what after market minipci wireless g cards they have installed in a SIS Chipset Acer Laptop that has been successful and does it run cool?
Thanks

Hmmm...Wifi heating up is very rare but it might happen. In any case any min PCI wifi card should work. Acer does not seem to have any BIOS limitation over the wireless cards like many other manufacturers.
I would suggest getting the Atheros Super SG or the Intel 2915's are also pretty good.
