Hey im new to these forums, and new to gaming notebooks as well so excuse me if i appear to noobish. I recently bought the BB version of the Asus G51, was happy with it until Dawn Of War 1 started lagging . Now im worried.

Is there any way to up grade the CPU in the G51? As in replacing the 2.00 processor?
Also do you think overclocking would increase the temp too much. It already runs pretty hot so i must be careful with this.

Yes. CPUs are upgradable in most (if not all) notebooks.

    cheers ...

Overclocking shouldnt increase the temp too much. It will increase it, but ever so slightly. The bulk of the heat that comes with overclocking in desktops is the added voltage. Personally, I would try overclocking a few hundred mhz before changing the CPU.

If in-game it starts to lag, it sounds like your CPU and/or GPU is downclocking. A CPU upgrade rarely yields much performance benefit in games. Check your current load temps and make sure they the vents are not blocked first.

OK, dont jump to the conclusion that you need a CPU upgrade. I say this because DoW ran fine on my old laptop, so it should run sweet on an Asus G51.

Follow sgogeta's advice and make sure your not overheating.

I agree with the others that your computer is most likely down-clocking. Dawn of War 1 is old and can run on pretty much anything decent. The G1 should run it on max with no lag at all.

i overclocked my cpu to 2.3ghz and i tryed up to 2.5ghz! i had no problem at all... for check your current temperature just download this program ( http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php) then run this app: setfsb just google it and download latest version!
Select as clock generator ICS9LPR604AGLF THEN CLICK ON GET FSB SLIDE THE BAR GRADUALLY UNTIL U REACH 500/760 THEN CLICK ON SET FSB!!!!!!!
then creat a shortcut on your desktop so that you can check it and try to increase a little by a little...i did...2.1 ghz then 2.2 and 2.3 for last! :)
keep the app that measure the heat on and look u shouldnt have any increase in temperature!
the go on upgrade my score and on cpu u should get 5.2 lol!!! :)
