I'm considering replacing the Athlon 2400+ with an AMD TURION 64 ML-34 PROCESSOR. Would this be possible with just a BIOS flash, or is there something else that I need to know - like compatibility issues with the socket (754), motherboard, heatsink, etc... Also, I realise that the RAM speed for this Averatec 6200H model is 2700 (333MH) but would the 3200 (400MH) RAM be back-compatible (especially if I upgraded the processor)? Right now it's half the price of the 2700... By the way, it is DDR - not DDR2.
Thanks again for your insight and suggestions!

If you currently have an Athlon XP 2400+ in your notebook, then the upgrade cannot take place, because thy two processor use a totally different chipset and different socket. What model of notebook do you have?

DDR 400(PC3200) RAM will be backwards compatible. In any case you will be limited by the bus speed when it comes to faster RAM.
