Hey Guys,
My current specs are:
i7 4800MQ @~ -60mV
GTX 780M @+90core +360memory
16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
BIOS: should be 1.03.05
EC: should be 1.03.01TR
Will check later and correct if wrong
The thing I want upgrade most right now is my GPU. I'm noticing it's are more and more lately.
Want to upgrade to either GTX980m or GTX1060.
I saw that that someone upgraded his P177SM-A with a 980M without any problems in this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/just-upgraded-p177sm-a-from-gtx-970m-to-980m.765051/
To my knowledge there is almost no difference between the P177SM and the P177SM-A so I shouldn't have any difficulties there.
For the 1060 I have seen various post of people putting them in chassis the look similar to the P177SM.
From what I read, the screen in the P177SM being LVDS, shouldn't be a problem, because the video is fed through the iGPU.
But just to be sure I wanted to ask whether anyone knows anything.
To my knowledge the only other thing I'd have to do for it to work is to mod drivers. Am a total noob in that area but should be enough tutorial out there for me to learn from.
The cards I can both get from ebay where a used 1060 would be similarly priced to a new 980M. Both around 300€.
1060: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Nvidia-GeFo...m=202578352916&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109
980M: https://www.ebay.de/itm/GTX-980M-Gr...148710?hash=item3d8b8b0466:g:YIwAAOSwmp9c4X1D
A new 1060 I could get for 360€.

Prices are including shipping.
I have a relative currently living in China who will be coming back soon, who could get me either of those cards from China directly. There I could get a new 980M for ~200€ while the 1060 would be around 280€.
Based on what I just wrote does anyone have any advice on which card I should choose over the other and knows of any problems I could run into on the way?
The other thing I am thinking about upgrading is my 4800MQ. I could get a 4930MX for ~180€. It would be a QS. Does anyone have experience with those?
And lastly. Does anyone have advice on how to improve thermals in the P177SM. CPU and GPU are running quite hot. It is summer and my room is by no means cool, but I don't think I should be hitting 90°.
THX in advance.
