Hello everyone, Ive been doing about and hour of research into upgrading my laptop. Found out how to upgrade the RAM and then moved onto the Video Card... to hit a wall. I found out that most laptops wont be able to upgrade there video cards because they are built into the motherboard.

    Then I found this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=86864&highlight=Video+Card+1520

Which does list the Dell Inspiron 1520 as one you can upgrade. Now here I am asking you all if this is true because this thread was writen in 2006.

Is it possible to upgrade my GPU at all? Btw I have the Intel 3100 right now, which I think is my nail in the coffin, but it doesnt hurt to ask.

Just did some more research before posting this too, Dell doesnt not support MXM... Correct???

Thanks to anyone who can help!

P.S. Will there ever be an external Video Card?

Dell mainly uses proprietary ports, because all dells are made by quanta. Since dell has a deal with quanta, they can make whatever port they want.

I think the new Xps 1730 uses MXM, but I think it is revision 3.

As far as the 1520 goes, usually you cannot upgrade graphics cards.

First, the thread you linked to was updated last week, you can see that at the bottom of the page.

And no, you CAN'T upgrade an integrated video card.

    End of story.
