    Hi
In my Dell M1530 I currently have the T5550 1.83ghz processor and am hoping to upgrade to the T9500. The one I'm looking at is this:
    http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAYX#
Would this be compatible with my current setup? I've heard the T9500 is compatible but am unsure about the difference between SLAPW, SLAQH, SLAYX, SLAZA, etc.
Also I currently have Windows Vista 32bit, since the new processor is 64bit is this a problem?
    Thanks for any help!

It may support the T9300. I mean, it was customizable to get that wasn't it?

I don't think the SLAZA, SLAPW, SLAQH, etc, will make a difference.

And Vista won't be affected. Just because a processor is 64 bit capable, it doesn't mean that it can't do 32 bit.

The M1530 uses a GM965 and is able to support the 1st generation 45nm 800MHz FSB Penryn Processors. Thus the M1530 can support the T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500 and X9000 processors. (yes, X9000 works but not entirely recommended)

The T9300 is my bet for the best price : performance : cooling bang-per-buck ratio. But if you can get a T9500 for the price of a T9300 then go for it.

OP could put the X9000 (Or probably even an X7900), but the heat output from them would be too much for the cooling system the M1530 uses I'd say.

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered the t9500, saw it for $240 oem. Now I'm wondering if/how much a difference it would make upgrading vista to 64bit or getting windows 7 64bit?

windows 7 64 bit would be a better uprgade..... io say a great jump from vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit... u can also use 4 GB RAM ++ in 64 bit...
