Hello all, I don't know if this is the right place to start this, but I was wondering what exactly it would take to upgrade my studio xps 1640 to the specs on the xps 1645 or 1647? I realize to get the core i7 I would need a new motherboard. My main questions are: is it worth it? and what would I need to purchase and where? Mainly I'm looking for faster cpu performance a better GPU and the new 6xxx series wireless cards.
Thanks,

tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
The (time) and parts will cost you more than a new notebook.
I suggest selling your current system and putting in any additional money towards the system you are now envisioning.
Good luck. -
I agree with tilleroftheearth... i would just sell the laptop and buy the new one...there are also more upgrades in the 1645 like better cooling to support the more power consuming core i7 so ur upgrade might not work...

There is not any better cooling I am afraid.. that is why the SXPS 1645-47 are having so much trouble handling this new i5/i7..

thanks for the replies, It's a shame that they make physically upgrading a notebook so much more difficult than upgrading a desktop. Is there a significant increase in performance with the new parts?

there will be an increase for sure... like 20-50% but its not worth the money and effort if u can find a new notebook with better performance for the same price as the upgrade ...
