I read that newegg has deals cheaper tp upgrade the memory from 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm to 2 GB. can anyone point out that memory to buy from newegg? and is it easy to upgrade it yourself?

Do you already have the E1505. If not, don't buy it with 1G (512x2 shared) unless this is the minimal config. You will be throwing this memory away othewise when you upgrade.

If you can run 667 Mhz, a stick of that in CAS 4 would be better than CAS 4 533. If you can't run 667, it won't help much, and CAS 5 667 is slower than CAS 4 533.

It's simple to change. Normally, you just open the cover, pop the old RAM out, and pop the new RAM in.

YIPES!!! (A single 1G stick is about $85 from newegg, and 2G matched is around $170-$240, but you don't need that.)

I assume Dell is giving you 2x512 Memory, not 1x1G. Just checked and that seems correct.

Suggestion - take the 1Gb for free. That should work pretty well for most programs. If you need it, spend $85 for a single stick of 1G ram from newegg and replace one of the 512M sticks (either hang on to the old one in case you need to warranty out the laptop, or E-bay it). That will give you 1.5 Gig of RAM. Only if this isn't enough (Vista), buy another 1G stick and swap the other 512M out.

Even though the speeds between 667 and 533 are slight(by one), Its always good to have more ram run more programs and operations(Firefox takes up 98mb sometimes)
