i have read the notebook cpu compatibility thread and some others. thus, i am now confused.

simply, given that BIOS will not be a problem, what cpu can i swap the T2390 for? i know (i think) it will have to be one that has FSB of 533 or 800.

    pls advise.

    thx

    Which Notebook ?

Anyway, if the SR Platform, X9000 is the limit.

Any Socket P Core 2 Duo (FSB: 800MHz) will work, though the Penryns T8300/T9300 are good and cheap.

    (No Penryn-Refresh)

It seems to have the 965GM/GL960 chipset.

    T8100/T8300/T9300/T9500 are good. :)

(If BIOS-compatiblity is not an issue)

You can confirm the Northbridge using Everest or PC Wizard.

I wouldnt try to push anything over a T7500 in there. Only because the Bios may not suppot the 45nm chips from Intel.
The T9300/T9500 Andy mentions are compatible cause they share the same socket, but more than likely your system BIOS only supports the 65nm chips from Intel, leaving the T7500 and T7800 to be the fastest processors you can upgrade to.

You will have to check the Bios to see if it enables 45nm support. If it does, you can go to T9300/T9500, but if it does not, you are probably stuck with The T7xxx series

    K-Tron, the fastest would be the T7500 (2.2 GHz), T7700 (2.4 GHz), or T7800 (2.6 GHz).

    HI man
I also need some advice. Is there any chance to upgrade a Celeron M530 cpu to a intel dual core or core2 duo? I saw t5300 has allmost the same specs: 65nm, m socket. I must know for sure if can be replaced with/without BIOS upgrading....
    Thank you!
