I have an 7508GX and I was wondering if I could upgrade the Radeon X600 to an X700 or X800 mobility card. If anyone knows please inform me. Thanks. Also is there anyway to check your temps in laptops? Like software or something.

Your card most likely would be:
    1. soldered on to the motherboard
    2. will be custom built for a specific laptop(like it is for most notebooks)

The most probable route of upgrade would be to get the 128MB X600(which I think Gateway uses in the 7510GX), but this might invlove a motherboard change which would be very expensive.

Upgrading to an X700/X800 would be impossible unless Gateway offers them as an upgrade.

Mobile Meter is a good tool to measure the temperature in notebooks.

It will be impossible to upgrade your card unfortunatley. As miner said, most notebook video cards are made for a specific model of notebook.

If Gateway offers a better card in that notebook in the future, as long as the card isn't soldered on, it'll be possible to upgrade.

Pop the bottom off and see what is inside.

I just submitted a 8510GZ review and it has a socketed CPU and an MXM/Axiom slot - it is totally upgradable.
