Well, this is uncharted territory for me, a recently-made Asus consumer.

Anyway, the landlady bought an HP G60 from Best Buy. For a decrease in rent for the month I'm role-playing Geek Squad and optimizing the computer as best I can. Tossing out bloatware, installing best drivers, etcetera.

However, that got me thinking. If anyone has been following me in the Asus board, I'm trying to switch out my G51's P7350 CPU for something beefier. As soon as I get it, I will... which leaves me with a spare P7350.

So this is my main question: Will this CPU work in the HP G60?

What chipset does it use? Find it from programs such as CPU-Z.

I'm leaving for work, so I haven't actually done more than turn off UAC for her, but I'll get to that once I get home.

10 char is what you write to make your post at least 10 characters.

Actually the GL 40 chipset might not support the P7350.
I was wrong. sorry I got a bit confused.

I don't think the BIOS will support a CPU with a 1066mhz fsb.

ok, now I know. the GL40 chipset will only support a 667mhz FSB.
The CPU will downclock or the notebook will not boot.

Edit: If the notebook will boot with a downclocked FSB you could use "setfsb" to clock it back up to 1066mhz.

Eh, too much hassle, and the person I'm investigating for isn't too tech-savvy to begin with. Well, I'll have a spare P7350, then.

    Thanks, hazard.
