I ordered a M1210 with 1GB of DDR2 at 667MHz thinking I could upgrade to 2GB later myself. I'm looking at the Ram offerings on Newegg, but I'm not sure which ones to get. Any difference between the PC2 5300 and PC2 5400? Right now I'm thinking of getting this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820208037
    Or this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227099
Will 2 sticks of those work? Will they void my 4 years of Dell warranty?
Any help and advices would be greatly appreciated.

note that dell will ship your laptop with 2x512 ram so they occupy 2 slots of the machine. so you will have to sacrifice 512mb of dell ram to install another 1gb to make it eventually 1.5gb.

and if you want to run dual channel, the sticks should have the same specs, preferable same manufaturer. so think about buy 2 x 1gb bundle from new egg.

No, changing the ram does not void your warranty. To see what type of RAM your laptop uses, it would be best to go to crucial.com or kingston.com and it will tell you exactly what kind of RAM your laptop uses. Then you can go to Newegg.com and search for that type.

The transcend 1gb will work in your system, and as far as I can tell, the OCZ will also work. There are several users on here that have bought the Transcend sticks.
