An old notebook. PIII with 128MB ram and 6 GB HD.

Can I replace with 512MB ram and a 20 GB HD? Want to use it as a digital wallet for pics from my digital camera.
Thanks!

Site says 192MB is the maximum for memory. Hard disk should be replacable.

Yep, memory probably won't be upgradable over 192MB. The hard drive on the other hand should be upgradable, 20GB will probably work with the OS/BIOS.

I had the 3480CT which is very similar. 192 meg is the limit for the ram. I installed a 40 gig drive with zero problems. when replacing the drive you only need to remove the plastic part below the keyboard. I think it's only 6 screws or so.
Good Luck

Many thanks!
Will try to get a 64 MB ram but seems shops are no longer selling this.
And can I put in a Hitachi 40.0GB 2.5" 5400R/8MB NB HDD? Or should I go for lower end model like Hitachi 40.0GB 2.5" 4200R NB HDD?

let me take a look there is a slight change that i have a 128 stick lying around somewhere. when i put in a 40 gig 5400 the palm rest definately get's a little warmer than before but i want to say it wasn't much different than the 4200 that i had in there either.

How to install Windows 98 to a blank hard disk?
Have replaced with a new 40G hard disk, but it can't boot. I've got an USB floppy disk drive with a floppy start up disk. Tried pressing F2 but could not enter the bios page. And it stuck at the opening page.
What should I do?

what do you have for a cd rom? from my experience with the 3480ct you need a cdrom that has a pc card interface. I never had any luck using a usb cdrom. good luck with it. hopefully you can get it working. oh yeah sorry i dont' have the 128 meg stick of ram anymore. i miss read your post earlier. if you don't have a pc card cdrom then you have another option. if you have a desktop or laptop, then you can put the 40 gig drive in a usb enclosure format it with Fat32 and create a cabs directory and copy the cabs dir from the 98 cd to that location. boot from the usb floppy and run setup from the cabs dir on your hard drive.
good luck,
scott
