I have an older Toshiba Satellite M 45 S165 laptop and wanted to see if I could upgrade the Celeron M chip to a Pentium M class CPU that uses the 478/479 socket and a 400mhz bus. Is this possible and what issues/problems would I encounter - including with the BIOS and what it supports.

    Thanks!

if Toshiba sold the Satellite M 45 with a Pentium M you should have no problem upgrading.

If you have an intel i855 chipset used one of the following for the upgrade: Pentium M715, M725, M735, M745, M755...

If you have an intel i915 chipset used one of the following for the upgrade: Pentium M730, M740, M750, M760

I'm not entirely sure but I think a laptop with an i910 chipset cannot be upgraded to a Pentium M
