Just a quick question, mum recently bought a new notebook for my brother which came with 2gb of RAM (2x1gb) but I'm thinking of switching the RAM chips with my notebook which only has 1gb (2x512mb).
Is there a way to find out if they're cross-compatible? I'm not much of a guru so I'm a bit behind on the specifics..
My notebook is an Asus A7Jc where as the new one is an HP Pavillion dv6000. I tried opening up my panels on my notebook but I don't know which are the RAM chips, only ever messed around with my PC ram chips.
Thanks in advanced.

They will be compatible. Both of those use SODIMM ram, so there won't be a problem there.
Just make sure you ask your brother if he minds you giving him the short end of the stick. -
Yes, they are compatible. Both computers use DDR2 PC-5300 667Mhz RAM so the ram sticks are interchangeable. The RAM are fairly noticeable and look a lot like PC ram sticks except that they are about half the size. You won't be able to miss them if you find them (just look in your Asus manual). Hope this helps and goodluck.
Lol and yes, listen to Dal and make sure your brother doesn't mind losing a 1GB of Ram... I guess he could always up his virtual memory -
Nah, he plays card games equivalent to solitaire and the like, compared to me - heavy user/gamer. Of course he won't mind!
Hahaha, thanks for the help guys.
