I ordered a Toshiba Satellite L350-ST2701 during the President's Day sale. The only thing is it comes with only 1GB of RAM, and Toshiba wanted $42.50 to add an additional GB, so I figured I'd pass on that and upgrade the ram on my own. Now my question is, I've read that 1GB is pretty marginal for Vista Home Premium, so I'm wondering what I should upgrade to. The max is 4GB (2x 2048mb) The laptop is mainly for business use. Will 2GB total be enough, or should I max it out (Will I notice any increased performance with 4GB vs. 2GB?).
Also, another option is to get one 2GB stick and add it in along with the 1GB it comes with, for a total of 3GB.

depends on your OS.
if you have a 32-bit (x86) OS, then I would purchase only one 2GB stick. Because 32-bit OS's can only supprot 3.25GB in most cases.
if you have a 64-bit (x64)OS, then go for the big upgrade of 2x2GB.
here you go on where to look for prices (assuming I searched for the correct laptop model):

Thanks. The OS is 32bit. I'll probably go with an additonal 2gb of DDR2 PC2-6400 ram.
