    Is it worth the extra cash to put a gig of PC2700 RAM, a lithium ion battery, and a larger hard drive in my 1200 to improve its performance? Or should I just spend an extra few bucks and get a better laptop?

    How drastic of an improvement would happen if I went from 256 to a gig in terms of playing Counter Strike? Mind you I have GMA 900

    256 is going to be very limiting for gaming, but not as bad as the video card. You might consider answering the FAQ in the hardware forum to see if we can help spend your money more effectively.
