Hello, me and my friends have bought some recent newer lenovo releases. I myself bought a lenovo u430p for 500 bucks. Was cheap, light and thin, backlit keyboard, long battery. My friend bought the z410 for 400 bucks. The lcd screens are pretty bad in my opinion with washed out colors and 768 resoloutions. So i started looking at the manuals for my laptop and he looked at the manuals for his. We went to the Parts List and the note on the 1st page said "Each FRU is available for all types or models, unless specific types or models are specified". With this is mind, all the above series laptops have the same message in the parts list and all models came with at least 2 or more different resolution lcd's. Im thinking that picking a higher resolution lcd from the parts manual in the manual, and replacing it with the lower res on your model should work? The lcd connector cable is the same for all lcd models (30 pin), in each model so does that help the fact that its compatible? The connectors from the low res and the high res screens are also both on the right side in all lcd models in each series laptop. Can anyone here confirm they tried a screen upgrade swap on there u,z, or y series on there laptop? Im thinking about giving it a shot since theres a 1080p ips display that shipped on some versions of the u430p.
