Hey there, Im really new to this so I was hoping somebody could please help me with upgrading my processor.
    I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR10E/S that has a T2310 Intel pentium dual-core processor [1.46GHz]
I want a processor that runs at over 2GHz, I've looked around the web and I know my laptop has a GL960 chipset, and is a socket P, can someone please then tell me my options? Thanks for any help, Sea.

You can upgrade to a T7xxx CPU, but I recommend against it, especially when you own a Sony. Too much of proprietary check and balance within its BIOS.

Maximizing RAM and a faster hard drive are more sensible upgrades.

I concur with Padme. However, if you really want to upgrade your CPU, search for the compatibility guide for mobile Intel processors here. People with the GL960 chipset have reportedly upgraded to Penryn's (800Mhz FSB). Basically, any C2D T-series with an 800Mhz FSB or less should be compatible.

This is a quote from said compatibility guide:

Basically the general gist is that you are not guaranteed compatibility with anything other than Celerons and Pentium Dual-Cores on the GL960. This is not really the fault of Sony, but the fault of Intel for making a chipset that sometimes runs outside of its maximum official specifications.
