I just want to hear from someone who has used a 15.6" FHD lcd panel on their 15.6" laptop that used to have a WXGA lcd panel?
Thanks

Can your GPU handle FHD? Another important consideration.

Knowing what laptop exactly is being discussed would help a lot...

Though if it's the ASUS K53SV we're talking about; GPU will do, but you need:
1) The correct cable; WXGA can make do with a 1-channel cable, but FHD needs 2-channel. The cut-off mark is 900p; 800p is still single channel.
2) A system that supports 900p(+) is one of its configurations. Since that would indicate the mb supports the extra data pins and the 2-ch cable is actually available.

Okay well as any of you would know from working on numerous 15.6" laptop's, you would find they all have the EXACT same connector on the lcd itself.
I have installed ASUS 15.6" lcd's on HP 15.6" laptop's, or LENEVO 15.6" lcd's on TOSHIBA 15.6" laptops. As you would all know is they work perfectly fine when it's the same resolution of 1366x768.
The question is as some of you may know their are 15.6" lcd's out there that have that exact same connector on the lcd yet their native resolution is 1920x1080.
My main question has even one person tried plugging it in and seeing the result? If you think it'll fry something that's preposterous.
Sorry if it sounds harsh but when you ask about the model. My question is why? Has any one of you guy's found the same laptop being a typical HP, Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba carry the exact same model laptop with two variants of lcd resolution 1920x1080 or 1366x768? -
I've done it on W510 and everything worked "out of the box", going from 1366x768 to a (non-touch) 1920x1080.
Not quite sure if that answers your question, though.chris89 likes this. -
After a tiny bit of research it's 100% possible.
Thanks
Upgrading WXGA to FHD - Same exact standard connector - It should work right?
