I'd just like to start a comprehensive thread for all those interested in doing it, or those who have attempted it. Many sites (Anandtech, Here, Tom's Hardware) suggest it is a 'drop-in' upgrade for the 667mhz bus Yonah Chipset. Each laptop manufacturer has different fabrication techniques, layouts, and potential pitfalls that await would-be upgraders. If you have dissembled a laptop, replaced a processor, or have good knowledge of a manufacturers processor accesability please post here and I will tabulate it in this initial post on a daily basis.

    Thanks all

There are already quite a bit of threads on the subject, for all different manufacturers. Many people have successfully upgraded to Merom from Yonah.

well, you might need a BIOS upgrade, but other than, it is just matter of popping in the chip. You need to check what type of CPU socket. You need a socket M or something to upgrade.

I'm not too sure about the CPU sockets, you need to look that up.
