Hey all. I've got a D620 that has been my workhorse for a couple years now. I recently came by a Vostro 1500 w/ T7100. I'm not interested in the Vostro at all (too big for my purposes and I hate the glossy screen).

So I'm wondering if I can take a cheepie route here to upgrading my D620 by swapping in the Vostro's T7100.

Any thoughts? Is it even worth the effort? I'm happy with the D620's performance, but I've always hated how hot it gets on the bottom.

    Whacho think?

Hmm thought I've read here both use a socket 429? And so long as the BIOS supports it (which I think the D620's does) all should be well?

Dunno, not sure. Anyone know for sure?

not possible cuase it is not Santa Rosa , you can get another core duo but I dont think it's worth the effort and money you need to spend.

not just the bios and a socket type but chipset also is different type as it is not the 965GM or PM.

No you cannot upgrade to the T7100, but you still may be able to upgrade to a Socket M Core2Duo like the T7200.
