    Hey,
I have an 80gb hard drive (i think it's 4200rpm) in my notebook right now. I was wondering how I would go about upgrading to a 7200rpm hard drive. Is the most space I can get for this laptop 60gb? I mean that's fine but the bigger the better... also, how would I go about doing this? I've never switched hard drives before and was wonder how to get all my info off of this hard drive to the other and put an operating system on it. Please let me know, thanks.

Replacing the hard drive is fairly easy. I replaced a hard drive in a Presario. It took about ten minutes. Usually there is a couple of screws on the bottom. You take them out and slide out the hard drive. The hard drive should be in a caddy. Take the old one out and put in the new one. Slide it back it and replace the screws. All of this should be covered in the manual somewhere. Now you have to re-intall the Operating System. It should be on a disc that came with the machine. All you have to do is put it in and turn on the notebook, it should take care of everything. After that is done, there should be a driver and applications CD(s). Put them in and they should do like the OS CD. When they are done, your computer should be like the day you bought it. As for moving your data over, I personally like to do a fresh install and move the data over. You can buy an external USB case, put your old hard drive in it and move the data over via the USB port. Plus you can use your old drive for extra storage or for backing up data. It is possible to image the old hard drive on to the new one using something like Norton Ghost if you want to go that route. Good Luck.

Yes. There is a panel on the bottom. Take it off. Swap the drives. Replace panel. Re-install the Operating Sytem and software.

Yeah, I'm tempted. That is the same price I paid for the 40Gb version I got seven months ago. Since I dropped $160 on a 8x Panasonic slim DVD burner yesterday, I think I'll pass. I'm waiting for the Seagate 100Gb 7200Rpm drive. Then I can set up four partions. One for XP, 2K, Linux and one for my files.
