I have an Acer AS5536-5583 notebook. It has 3GB of DDR2 667 RAM. I want to max it out at 4GB. Before opening it, I was wondering what kind of memory sticks do I have? Is it a 2GB stick and a 1 GB or is it 2x1.5GB? If it is a 2GB and a 1GB, then I could buy a 2GB and stick it in there to make it 4GB. But if it is 2x1.5GB, then I would have to replace both of them which leads to my next question, could I upgrade them into DDR3 memory and which kinds am I limited to?

    Thanks!

    It's 2gb + 1gb.

You cannot use DDR3 because it is not pin compatibe.
Also it wont give you any more performence to go to DDR3.
