Is it possible to upgrade my CPU for my Sager Np8660? I currently have an intel core 2 duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53 GHz I am not sure what my motherboard is. But I am guessing a lot of people on here have the same laptop and specs, and know more about it then I do. I would like to upgrade my CPU to over 3ghz if possible, and only if my motherboard can support this.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Upgrading to a SSD is probably a better upgrade performance wise than the CPU. Most things don't push the CPU enough to where you'd notice a difference. Having said that you could probably go up to the T9900 if you wished, though I'm not super familiar with Sagers.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the reply. I think I just need to upgrade my CPU, anytime I play a game like GTA episodes from liberty city and Splinter cell, I always get intense stuttering at some points, which makes it pretty hard to shoot cause of the jerkyness. The thing is even on the lowest settings it runs excactly the same as the high and medium. On high settings I get a bit of jerkyness and the same on medium so I dont think it is my graphics card and more down to my CPU. I saw this on ebay, would it sort out my problem?

Can you please tell me more about this SDD, and if my laptop is compatible? -
that's looks ok but ur better off getting a T9900... it will run cooler and will be same speed... also this SSD is just a new flash based hard drive... which is way faster.. ur notebook should work with it 100% but if ur spending like $500 to upgrade CPU and GPU, u might as well sell ur NP8660 and get a NP8690.. which would run all games way better... ur going to get $1000 about easily so 500 more gets NP8690 with i7 quad , ATI 5870 and 4GB RAM and ability to play all games on high or max settings... no problems in GTA IV too...just another option for u..

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I will get a grand for this laptop because even tho everything works perfectly and, there is nothing wrong with it at all. The laptop outcase all looks faded, the stickers are worn, the silver round the base of the laptop is all worn too, ive had the laptop for just over a year and a half now. It's a shame Sager make really reliable models and I have travelled a fair bit with this computer, tops I will get about 600 for this, and would need to contribute another 800 dollars for a new laptop. Would rather just pay the 500 dollars for the new processor if that is all I need.

The T9900 is the top-of-the-line Core 2 Duo model, the fastest one Intel offered in notebooks; it will therefore fetch a premium price.
A T9800 may be a better buy. The T9900 has only a 6% higher clockspeed (3.06GHz vs. the T9800's 2.93GHz) but will likely demand more than a 6% price premium over the T9800.
The NP8660 is an interesting laptop. Unfortunately the hard drive bay is right in the center of the laptop and very poorly cooled. If you are going to upgrade the hard drive, stick with 5400RPM drives. A Western Digital Scorpio Blue 640GB 5400RPM is the fastest 5400RPM drive on the market.
You could go for an SSD, but make sure that whatever one you buy will run at a reasonable temperature. Some SSDs can run hotter than hard drives.
