Ok, so my laptop was kick arse two years ago. 7900GTX with 512 dedicated DDR2 memory, only 2G or RAM though and 80G HD. At the beginning of the year, I decided to downgrade (my first problem) to Vista. Like it or not, I have to learn to support it. Two Gigs of ram and an 80 GB HD weren't going to cut it, so I bought some gskill memory and upgraded to 4GB and a 250 GB hard drive. Good huh? Well... no. I thought the T2400 supported 64bit instruction but I was wrong. Now I need a new CPU.
I can buy a T7250 (800 MHz FSB) on Newegg for $215.00, but I am not sure if my rig will support 800 MHz FSB. The T7200, on the other hand, is $296.00. Can I use the T7250 in my system? What would you suggest?
I have read several threads related to this, but I haven't come away with a definitive answer. I appreciate any advice you folks can give me.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The T2400 is Socket M and the T7250 is Socket P so you can't use the T7250 in your machine, regardless of the FSB. The T7200 will work as long your BIOS supports it. It probably costs more because of the extra L2 cache.
For other compatible processors refer to http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=209284 -
Thanks for the reply. The P100-ST9742 was offered with the T7200, but was hella more. I ordered one on Ebay for $200.00. This is my first real laptop upgrade, so we will see how it goes. I have accidental damage / replacement insurance, so if I fry it, I will just drop it in the bath tub and run it over a few times with the car. : )
