    Hello all,

Lately, my notebook has become my main workarea and the space I use on the harddisk has increased a lot. To counter this issue I was thinking of an external harddrive, and tbh I can't really bother taking an external harddrive with me all the time. I use a sleeve for my notebook, so taking it with me is just a bother (and I'm a bit lazy). So I thought of getting another harddisk, a bigger one.

Now, currently I have this Fujitsu (120GB version MHW2120BH). It came with my 8510p.

I've been looking around and found this 320GB Samsung. The store sells it for €75,90 which is pretty good for my low student budget. The store only sells samsungs, so I haven't really found anything better.

Is there a better notebook harddrive which performs better, has 250GB+ space and is reasonably priced?

    Thank you for your time.

most of the 5400rpm 320gb drives have similar performance (ruling out 7200rpm cos of cost). Good price though, look around for wd3200bevt aswell.

The 5K320 and ST9320320AS are cooler and quieter whereas the WD3200BEVT just edges ahead in benchmarks. I like the Fujitsu MHZ2320BH as well, since it is the coolest of all :D, and provides decent performance + it is cheapest of the lot (in the UK).
The 7K320 is a bit noisy and has idle temps of about ~45*C, whereas the WD3200BEKT (or JKT) also provides good performance and has idle temps of about 40*C. You can take a look at the Seagate 7200.3 as well.

(Hitachi 7K200 is pretty cheap as well, < $100)

Here are a few old threads regarding these HDDs.

The Samsung is a fine drive, cool and quiet. Here in Netherlands it costs 63 euros.

The WD 3200BEVT is a bit faster but also uses a bit more power.
