    Hey all,

    Okay to start off I am pretty new the whole upgrading system software so go easy on me and explain it as simply as you can :D .

    Well I have tried to do some reasearch into this before coming on here to make it easy on you guys so here it goes.

    So, I have used a website called RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com which has informed me of certain points of my laptop (shown below).

    System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
    System Model: Presario CQ61 Notebook PC
    Motherboard Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
    Motherboard Model: 363F

    * Maximum Memory Capacity: 8388608 MB
    * Currently Installed Memory: 2048 MB
    * Available Memory Slots: N.A.
    * Total Memory Slots: 2
    * Dual Channel Support: N.A.
    * CPU Manufacturer: AuthenticAMD
    * CPU Family: AMD Athlon(tm) II Dual-Core M320 Model 6, Stepping 2
    * CPU Speed: 1491 MHz

    *current RAM/Memory installed 1024MB DDR PC2-6400 (x2)

    I have looked around on websites (Pc world, Currys etc etc) for a suitable RAM upgrade/s but to be honest I havent got a clue what I am looking for, I want to upgrade to 4gb RAM.

    Though products I have looked at have said about how many pins (for example 200) and I am abit lost :confused:

    Thanks for the help
    (Not sure if this will affect anything but I am from the Uk)

    You are looking for a 4GB kit of DDR2 sodimm memory. Any speed rating will do.

    Yes, what Trottel said.

    You can get 4 GB DDR2 Crucial or Corsair ~80 USD

    Yup. Ah explains why you aren't using Newegg or Tiger Direct, they don't ship to UK. Good price for the memory, almost exact equivalent to the USD prices.

    8388 GB of RAM! I wonder how much that would cost in DDR2 prices..

    Think about it for a second: 8388 gigabytes, which would be 8.3 terabytes

    Clearly a typographical error on the part of whoever wrote that spec page.

    Probably. It's actually exactly 8192GiB or 8TiB, meaning that it should have said KB, which is weird because I don't see a reason why KB would be used...

    Who knows really. Companies need to be more careful when they post that information.

    With my M17X R2, I have 4gb of Ram right now. I am running at 81% most of the time, running WOW, and other apps on two displays. Would I benifit be going to 8GB? It is so cheap right now, it seems like a good time to do it.

    More RAM would always be better as even they are not used by the programs, they are used by the OS as file cache which make things run snappier. And given the price right now, I would say go for it.

    Can't hurt to have more RAM besides your wallet. Especially since you get a 8 GB kit for ~100 USD

    But it was super cheap since around the end of October. I picked up my 8GB for $60 sans rebate on November 1st. Then it dropped down to $50 a week later. Lol at the people who acted like it would last forever. I think sales were so high with it being so cheap they cleared out their oversupply.

    O_O What? Late November the cheapest on Newegg was 90 for 8 GB DDR3 1066 GSkill. Still much cheaper than when 4 GB modules came out and DDR2 modules.

    Yeah apparently. I would buy my dad's Studio 8 GB if it were 80 bucks or lower..

    Eh I don't like OCZ memory..
