    Hi all,

How can I upgrade from a T7600 to the T7600G.
I cant find one for sale anywhere.

    I have the Dell M1710. 7950GTX Video, 4GB Ram.

Are the T7600G even for sale on their own ?

    Is this possible.

Thank in advance for any help

If the BIOS does not support overclocking, there is no point to this. Not to mention there is no point in this upgrade unless you do something that uses 100% of the processor at some point.

You can probably find the processor online somewhere, like eBay, but there is probably not a 'boxed-up' version available.

    Thanks for that.
I am looking increase the speed to 2.8GHZ (From 2.33) or thereabouts so I can play Age of Conan better.

I believe the T7600G allows for the overclocking ?

    Thanks for the reply.

The T7600G does allow OCing, but does the motherboard/BIOS? Was the M1710 EVER sold with the T7600G?...if not, then this will not work for you.

Additionally, the basic speed for the T7600G is the same as the T7600...and OCing usually does not get a whole lot more performance in a laptop. You get shorter laptop lifetime, more heat, and more trouble. I can't recommend OCing to be honest.

I don't even think a better processor would improve gaming performance at this point. You don't have a crap processor bottlenecking the GPU!

Best chance to improve performance is to add more RAM or get a faster hard drive. And it appears you have the best of it all already.

yeah it's the GPU and not the processor. you wont get much more out of XPS M1710 unfortunately.

    Ok :).
You've convinced me. I'll leave it for now. And probably saved me some money and future frustration.

I might even be able to run Age of Conan OK. Being I havnt got the game yet. I am between required spec's and reccommended.

    Many thanks for the support/assistance.
    Greatly appreciated.

I should have found this website before buying it...LOL....sure is a great site. Lots of worthwhile info/tips/tricks. .....Love it!

you may want to try a different driver from laptopvideo2go if you haven't done so already.

Isn't that GPU a really good GPU to OC? Or was that just the 7900 bios modded etc....?

I am pretty sure their is no such thing as a T7600G.
My friend Stamtis bought his XPS1710 with a T7600G, and the processor is just a T7600.
When you bought the T7600G, you are not buying a different processor, but a Bios whics allowed for overclocking.
You should be able to download the Bios from Dell, but you would need a service tag number which correlates to the G codename to get the overclocking Bios.
