Alright, I have 1 gig(2x512MB) as of now, and will be getting 2 gigs(2x1GB) soon. I was just curious about brands/compatibility. As of now, I am pretty positive that 2 sticks of OCZ 533(PC2 4200) will do the trick. I don't see the point of buying 667MHz RAM to give me little to no performance boost.

I've looked on OCZ's website, and can't find memory recommendations for my model. So I guess my question is if the RAM is compatible or not. If the case is it's not, then which company would you recommend as a secondary choice.

    Thanks in advance

Generally speaking, RAM is RAM. As long as you stick to a name brand (I prefer Crucial or Corsair) and purchase modules that are the correct speed and pin count, you'll be fine.

Any 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM will work fine. As he said though, I'd go with a name brand and I would stick with two sticks that are the same size for dual channel.

If your mainboard can support up to 667MHz, just go for 667MHz because the price is not a big difference between 533 and 667. i'm planning to upgrade to 2x1024MB (667)as well. Hopefully, the price will be drop soon.

get 533 or 667 so-dimm 200 pin ddr2. The speed really dosent matter as the cas overrides the speed increase. either speed will do, but make sure it is so-dimm ddr2
