    Hi Guys,
Basically I have a NP8660 ordered with a Blu Ray drive, the problem is there is a backorder on Blu Ray drives and the ETA is unknown. I am basically thinking of downgrading to the regular DVD/RW drive, and then upgrading the drive to Blu Ray once I receive it. I made a similar post in the Sager/Clevo section of the forums, and I was recommended to contact the reseller and have them send me the Blu Ray drive when available. When I contacted the reseller I was informed I would need to send it to Sager directly and have them upgrade the drive. The problem with that is I live abroad so the cost of shipping the laptop back to the states and then back to me would make it really not worth it.
So on with the questions I never tried changing laptop drives before, and my main concern choosing the right BD drive. I was informed that the NP8660 uses SATA drives, so I have been flipping through possible internal SATA drives and came up with two so far:

Should I be worried about drive sizes at all or does one size fit all? Finally does anyone have any suggestions regarding a good Blu Ray SATA internal drive please let me know.

The reseller (check my signature) has informed me that Sager has taken the position that the Blu-Ray drive is not installable by the end user, so I would need to send it back to Sager for them to install the Blu-Ray once
they become available. Then have Sager ship the laptop back to me. I explained why this situation does not suit me.

I am unable to look into both SATA blu-ray drive links. However, I do not think it is available yet.

A Blu-Ray reader/DVD Burner will be available first within one to two months. There is no ETA for Blu-Ray Burner.

    Hi everyone,
It's been about five months since I lasted posted anything regarding this subject so I was wondering if anyone can help me with this question. What is the name of the current Blu Ray drive that the NP8660 ships with? Can anyone recommend a Blu Ray drive that would be compatible with the NP8660 that might be better than what is currently being shipped with the NP8660?

Any 12.7mm Bluray SATA drive will work with the Sager. They are standardized. However, you may need to pull the mounting brackets off of the DVD drive and swap them onto the Bluray, which takes all of 30 seconds.

Not sure why they told you only Sager can install a Bluray drive... that is ridiculous.

Buy a drive off of ebay and save yourself a ton of money.

Hi guys got a Blu ray drive and I'm in the process of changing the drives. Can anyone direct me to a site that explains how to change the drives the previous post from havoc mentioned I need to pull the mounting brackets off...any help would be greatly appreciated.

*EDIT* Upon opening the new drive I noticed the front cover has to be cut in order to slide into the drive correctly. So much for one drive fits all theory ;) It's a small part of the cover that needs to be cut don't think I have the necessary tools to cut it correctly
