I was interested in upgrading the wifi card in a hp dv6928. I'm mostly looking to see if I can expand the range of my current laptop. It currently has a intel 4965AGN installed. I was interested in seeing if it is possible in upgrading to a Intel Wifi Link 5300 or maybe even a intel ultimate-n 6300. I know there are three leads attached to my current card, but not sure if this implies that there are 3 antenna present or not. Is this possible? Any idea of number of antenna present? How many would I need to support either of the above cards? And if either of the above is possible which is preferred? Thanks in advance for all the help.

If it already has a Intel 4965AGN installed, I think a 5300 or 6300 should work fine.

Well I'll find out soon enough, planning to order a 5300 soon and give it a shot. For what it's worth HP's tech assist line seems to agree it shouldn't have any issues as the basic structure is the same. Guess we'll see.
As for the 6300, it's a mini card and would require an "adapter" such as the one listed in my below link. Couldn't get hp to give me a yes or a no. All they would say is that is wasn't the designed card for my computer. No kidding right?
That said would love more feedback if anyone has any other info to be offered on the subject. Thanks again.
