    Hey folks, back again.

I've got a Sony-AR605E, and while it's nice, it's just not cutting it for the sort of things I want for music production so the questions are...

1.) Can I upgrade from the t8300 to a newer t9300, and with how much difficulty (ie will it just be pop-n-drop or am I better off getting a new laptop)

2.) Will two Seagate Momentus 7200.4 hard drives work?

3.) Is upgrading the current 2gb ram to a 4gb Corsar value-pack worth it and will it work?

    Cheers,
    -SC

I dunno the full specs, but if the T8300 is working, then the T9300 will too. (Just like Plug n Play) Is it worth upgrading, not sure!

    2 7200.4s will work, if there are 2 HDD bays/connectors. :p

If you're running Vista, then feeding it 4GB will be good. DDR2 is cheap, and since it is Santa-Rosa based, it'll handle 4GB just fine.

Upgrading from a T8300 to a T9300 is not worth it. The performance increase will only be by 100mhz and in other areas, slightly faste due to the newer technology. However, upgrading to a X7900 or X9000 would be worth it for sure.

Upgrading to 4GB would definitely help as well.
However, try to get RAM with the lowest timings possible, and download Memset to lower the timings as well as I have done in my signature. Any cheap memory may not have the tolerances of more expensive high performance RAM.

And the Seagate hard drives should work as long as you have the correct fittings and cables to connect it to.

What are the issues specifically? You've got a decent system there and performance increases arn't going to be huge for the amount of money you'll have to spend to get them.

A desktop may be the answer.
