Hey guys, I was wondering which RAM manufacturer do you guys like the most? I personally prefer Corsair, how about you?
-
-
I guess I would say OCZ, Corsiar, then Kingston. I'm really not that picky when it comes to RAM... in fact, in my system right now I’m running kingston and corsair, both have the same timings, speed, case latency etc. But really... whatever is cheaper. All have lifetime warranties...
-
Yes, but people say Corsair is the world's fastest RAM.
-
-
I like my Corsair ValueSelect just fine. But I don't think it's appreciably faster than other brands. -
-
i dunno about faster, it just works.
-
I mean, I like Corsair, and buy it when I can, because I know it's a reputable manufacturer whose RAM sticks are likely to work properly in my system. But the same can be said of Kingston, or Mushkin as well. Basically, if it doesn't crash, has a decent latency, and has a good price, that should be the criteria for good RAM, not absolute speed. -
i don't think you going to see a review or article stating that corsair is better than ______(insert brand here).
its just comes down to personal preference and experience.
i for one have yet to have a single problem with corsair or mushkin.
i can't say the same for kingston. -
I can't remember the site! It was like months ago. Anyways, compare the prices between Corsair and Kingston and see which one stands out.
-
OCZ is the best out of that list.
-
OCZ and Corsair.
-
I moved this to hardware since this is where it belongs.
I voted for Kingston. Although I really don't care that much.
Tim -
I prefer OCZ and G. Skill myself.
-
I voted for Patriot becasuse it was on sale at Newegg two weeks ago and the 2GB upgrade on my X60 went without a hitch, no errors in memtest+ v1.65.
-
Crucial isn't on the list?! not even an 'other' option...
-

OCZ because the post-sales service is better than any other manufacturer.
-
Lol this list doesnt even have Mushkin, Crucial and GSkill. Anyway I like GSkill the best. Great OC ram at a decent price.
-
Has anyone actually experienced trouble from one brand or the other? What makes you think one is better than the other? The pretty packaging?
Seriously...I wanna know 8). -
I vote: "Don't Care"

I have no preference - if it works and I need it, I'll buy it, and I won't pay through my nose for one brand over another. Notebook RAM is all very similar.
@ the original poster, remember not to believe everything you read. -
Apparently you're a big ATI fan so obviously you ignore better products from the other brands
-
I'm surprised so many people are voting for Corsair when Corsair is one of the more expensive brands for SO-DIMM modules.
-
HAhahahahah. I don't ignore other brands. I just ignore Nvidia. Anyways, I see lots of you's are complaining about a lack of options such as manufaturers and the "other" option. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. But the list I provided are the MAIN manufaturers and BEST manufaturers or most POPULAR manufaturers. BTW, if any of you wants to know what I voted for, I went with Corsair.
-
I don't think it makes a huge difference as long as you don't pick a questionable RAM maker. I voted Corsair since that's what I'm using now.
I've never had any RAM problems with any of the other RAM sticks I've ever used. -
Out of that list I like OCZ the best. I prefer Mushkin and Crucial though. I also like TwinMos.
-
Main manufacturer? I've never even heard of Geil. And it has no votes anyways...Guess you're from..uh...the middle of nowhere? haha -
I've never heard of Crusial, also Geil is a cheap RAM manufaturer.

I'm using a KingMAX DDR2 SO-DIMM in my notebook so i'll say thats good too
...best $80usd(90cad) ever spent.
-
Crucial. They may be pricey but they actually build their ram from start to finish and right here in the USA (just miles from my home and business) there service is excellent as is shipping/packaging and there products always perform great, stability/longevity is fantastic.
-
Crucial is awesome. Ballistix anyone?
-
Just added 1GB in morningn today. I bought a Corsair 1GB and I have to say it's EXCELLENT! I don't know about Crucial becuase I've never heard of it until you guys mentioned it.
-
The manufacturers for SODIMM don't really matter. As long as there's a lifetime warranty it's all good. I speak from a PC standpoint, where there ARE BIG differences.
-
But theramguy.com (or something similiar) says that OCZ and Corsair are themost outstinding ones. Is Crucial a cheap RAM manufaturer?
-
-
-
Crucial cheap? actually one of the more expensive...apparently not much choice where you are

But online.

Unless you're planning on overclocking, I'd have to go with whatever's cheapest. I voted for Kingston, because I've personally never had a problem with any of their memory products (SDRAM, USB keys, SD cards).
I loaded my brothers Athlon machine with Geil sticks and they've been great too... especially for the price. -
It's easy to doubt the differences between RAM manufacturers until you get bitten by some bad generic memory. Some use such cheap PCB's that you'll end up getting data errors left and right. A lifetime warranty doesn't mean jack because ALL of their modules use cheap PCB's. Yes, this includes some of the bigger brands. PNY used to be an offender, but they've gotten better. Simple, Patriot, G.SKILL, and many others just aren't worth the trouble. They'll also often have compatability issues with some better motherboards from the likes of Tyan and Asus, on the desktop side.
That said, there are a lot of little known brands that are very reliable. I know a lot of people live by Buffalo, for example, and I use Transcend for budget memory. Like others I also use Crucial for my high end stuff, and exclusively for my own systems.
I've had good luck with Kingston, Corsair, and Mushkin too, but I just use the two brands now for simplicity. I used Corsair exclusively for customers for awhile, but I started to get the feeling that their high end stuff was just the valueram binned with a sticker and a heatsink. -
Well for me, I've only used Corsair and it's EXCELLENT. Just as expected and told by friends and the internet.
-
I get whatever reliable brand is the best bang for the buck at the time of purchase. Then I alter the timeings on my own
-
oops. lol
-
I just like corsiar because I know no other brands or makes
-
Corsair, OCZ, Kingston, Mushkin, Patriot, and Crucial are some of the best.
My trend recently has been OCZ and Kingston simply because they've offered some of the best deals. -
ummmm mr ati person, you do realize that the site you posted, takes you to corsairs official support forum. what brand of ram do you think their going to praise. as far as ram choices, im happy with the corsair in my notebook, and the kingston i had in my desktop worked well, the first chip i got was bad (i bought it from a bad place, i doubt it was stored properly). but kingston service was amazing, some of the best i have ever dealt with, for anything.
-
Oops, sorry I didn't realise that. I thought that was some RAM site. Sorry, my bad. Also, I'm getting a Kingston for my desktop since I can't find a right priced and speced Corsair. I do like Corsair a lot since it performed viciously in my notebook from the day I got it.
-
lets not forget PNY, mushkin and crucial all good brands too. Transcend is OK too but not in the same league as the previous. But I choose kingston as their value ram has been the most stable ram I have ever used. WHether it be a gaming rig, server, or workhorse. Rock stable and fast, I dont need names like XMS to game. But given the opportunity Id buy anyone of the brands on the list, as well as the ones I mentioned.
To be slightly off topic (and not too opinionated), a brand to stay away from is PQI. I went with this in a pinch for money and it caused all sorts of issues. But thats what you get with bargain bin ram, a hit or miss. -
I prefer Corsair, OCZ, Twinmos, & Mushkin. If I want value then I go for Kingston. If you're not overclocking which is the case for most notebooks you can get away with slightly poorer quality memory.
In desktops and if you overclock... Then certain brands do better than others at the same price point.
Ur Favourite RAM manufacturer?
