Hi ppl, I have been recommended this laptop http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=3382-6301
But i feel 512mb ram is not that good for gaming so i want to upgrade to 1gb ram. However im not to sure on what type of ram to get DDR 400, DDR-2 553, DDR-2 800 or something else. Could someone help me and bare in mind i live in the UK so i dont want to import anything from america.
Thanks.
i forgot to add i am looking at this one ; http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=3460-1245
Would this be good enough ?

No, that is desktop ram. You need 200-pin DDR2 for the notebook.
Also keep in mind that there is a 5 week waiting period for that notebook due to part shortages (if you were not aware). -
Ok thanks, i found this ( its 200-pin DDR-2 ) http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=3780-1020
Would this fit in the laptop i want ? -
It would fit, but I have some concern over it. One, the T2300E is rated for DDR2-667 memory, but I don't see any at that vendor in 200-pin. Sure, you could run the 533 memory, but it would be a tad slower.
Second, I've never heard of "PC-Value" branded ram. Personally, I've been sticking with PQI for notebook memory. It is a generic, yes, but it has always worked for me. Notebooks can be especially particular when it comes to ram. One stick can work in one notebook and not in another.
I would do a web search on this model to find out what buyers have managed to get working in this unit brandwise. At least you will have a starting point from which to look. Maybe look for a UK vendor that has a much larger selection of ram. -
Okay i see, im not to sure about the vendor ram thingy. Seems a bit confusing although i have found a 677 DDR 512 mb compoment http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=3790-1020 would this be good enough ?
Thanks again and sorry for bothering you, i just dont want to waste my money. -
Yep, you found one that should work. It is still the same brand, but I guess you won't know if it's a decent make until you try it. Worst case scenerio is that you have to exchange the ram for another brand if it does not work, but it is the correct specification for that processor.
