Help, i think i have done something horrible wrong to my 3 month old M50 ASUS laptop. Today i tried cleaning my computer with some strong soap the remove the soap with a wet cloth after a few min. I covered the keyboard and the palmrest and the onboard mouse with soap. The screen i only used the wet cloth with, not soap. Now 4 hours later i tried to turn on my computer but the power inicator (power button) flashed about 3 or 4 times and my computer didnt start....! So i tried to remove the battery and the powercord from the adapter and wait a few minutes, and blow a little air to the powerbutton because maybe some water was underneath. And after 5 min i pressed the powerbutton again. And it worked! The computer finally booted. So now it starts without any problems, BUT;
- Not all the keys in my keyboard works. About 50%!
- The onboard mouse doé's not work at all.'
- Random keys get stuck every now and then. Without me having touched them at all.
So what could be the problem here? I fear that some water or soap did get underneath the keyboard and are now making it fail bigtime. Hopefully the maincard is still intact. I have absolutely no idea.
What cán i 'do to repair thís stuid problem. Im so ing stupid'. YARGH![]()
Im 'writing this with the keyboard thats within vista and its really difficult, so please be patience if i dont reply wihin minutes.
Please help. Thánks'''![]()

Im hoping that the systemfan will remove the water if i keep my computer on. If its water inside it,it cant be that much since i only used wet cloth. Or is it a bad idea?

NONONONONO!!!!!!
Turn it off, pull the battery, and let it dry!!!!!!! -
turn your system off now, and let it throroughly dry. Tomorrow it will be dry enough to use.
Next time do not use soap and water.
All you need is a good microfibre cloth and some runbbing alcohol.
As always, only clean the system with liquids when the laptop is powered off and unplugged.

Personally, I use this method. I like my laptop squeaky clean.

I tried shutting it off for the night in hope for it to dry through the night, but it is exactly the same today. Also tried using a hairblower on top of the keyboard for about 20 min. Did not help at all.
Lucky i have accidental thingy, so im covered. But i have to ship it to another country to have it fixed, which mean i will be without a computer for weeks.
Lesson learned! -
You probably have moisture short circuiting the connections for those components. BTW, don't compound a problem with a solution. Hair dryers get pretty hot and you could end up melting wire shielding.
If you have the means, remove the keyboard and disconnect it and the onboard mouse from the motherboard. Then use the dryer on low heat.
The fats in the soap might be inhibiting evaporation.

Take it apart and dry it out. That is all.
-
Could take days to dry out, plus trying to use it wet could do circuit damage.
Urgent help needed!
