I left my lappy downloading BC2 from EADM overnight, and in the morning, there was 50% battery left, and it was not charging. I don't know whether the problem is in the laptop or charger: the fat wire seems to be getting power to the adapter, but the laptop does not charge.
I'm concerned, and don't know what to do. I don't want to buy a Uni charger, as I'm not sure whether the problem is within the charger.
I have an MSi GX623.

Have you tested your AC adapter? Used a known good battery?
Try removing the battery and AC adapter and holding down the power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times. -
Not that I know what "BC2" and "EADM" are, but it doesn't really matter.
Are you sure it is not charging? If anything stopped working it should have happened shortly before you found it this way - you say you had 50% batterly left!?
Could be the charger or the MB.... First thing would be to either check the charger output or directly try with another charger... -

I tried taking out the battery and turning on the lappy, and the Battery LED started flashing orange, and stopped after I put the battery back in.

The battery is at the end of its useable life, the power adapter is malfunctioning (unllikely since the laptop is operational without the battery) or the power board on the laptop is in trouble (I have the last problem).

Have you tried with another known good AC adapter? Orange flashing LED lights usually mean the battery is on its last limb (my Vostro 1500 battery did that). A good battery and AC adapter would mean the DC input jack or some other power circuitry issue with your motherboard.

Since your adaptor can't power the system without the battery inside, you need a new power adaptor.
Don't buy a unicharger - save yourself some headaches and buy an OEM replacement for your notebook.
Good luck. -

I thought MSI use Li Shin who provides OEM adapters for alot of high end gaming laptops?

I'd say it's most likely the DC plug from the laptop. The AC adapter can be easily tested with a multimeter.
