Anyone got any ideas as to when USB 3.0 will start showing up widely in consumer laptops?

Probably sometime in 2011.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Not until 2011 with Intel, probably because they are trying to push Light Peak.
-
Intels Like Peak is what they have been working (supposedly pushed by Apple) to accelerate transfer rates.
USB was delayed till 2011 AFAIK, and there is only one Asus desktop board using USB 3.0

Will we be able to upgrade our current laptops with USB2 to USB3? Please see my specs below (if you need them) to answer the question in regard to my HP dv5t.
-
Not easily, if at all. It will most probably require an entirely new motherboard, which is a hefty replacement job.
-
Or an ExpressCard.
-
And you'll also need a controller.
-
-
Easier, a new laptop...lol
To the question, no, you can't put a USB 3.0 where a 2.0 was.
Need to make a full change.
Wait, and BIOS update to support it too, no? -

The controller is in the ExpressCard. -
Good to know... time to get my expresscard!
