I have a destroyed laptop, a Compaq Presario 1200XL-118, which seems to have a motherboard failure and keyboard failure, among other things. However, I've managed to salvage the display and some other various pieces.

Anyway, my friend ran across a Presario 700 series that had a busted display which was literally in pieces. We decided that if possible, I'll just hook my display to it. When I did some research I found that the 700 series has an XGA display and the 1200XL series has a HPA display. I was just curious as to whether or not it would be possible to connect my HPA display to a motheboard for an XGA monitor? I know that HPA is passive matrix and XGA is an active matrix, but I don't know if this difference is only in the screen or the video hardware itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
