The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    When you purchase a used gpu do they usually come with the two bolts/screws that fix the gpu to the board?

    In YouTube videos it looks like people use these fancy bolt looking things, but would a simple screw suffice? If so about what size?

    I'm not talking about the screws for the heat sink. Will upload a picture to see if that helps.

    In the picture, I'm talking about the threaded hole between the heat sink and fan on the left. There's a similar one on the right out of view.

    I'm sure having a few extra laying around wouldn't be a bad thing either.

    Find service manual (not user manual) for your laptop

    Go to exploded diagrams/part lists, find the screw on the diagram (probably "VGA" page)

    Look up the part number, it will probably also tell you the thread and length of the screw (e.g. M2.5x6mm)

    Buy on ebay/aliexpress etc
