    Hey
    I own an Asus A8Js
    I am looking for speakers.
Is it possible to use 5.1 speakers on my laptop?
If not, which are the best 2.1 speakers I can buy? I am looking for audiophile quality speakers at about $100 price range.

You can use an external sound card, because ti doesn't look like the A8Js has an optical output.

You can use an S/PDIF or Optical Output for a 5.1 system. The normal 3.5mm Audio Jack won't do the job as it only transmits Stereo sound. If you do not have an Optical or S/PDIF output, which probably you do not on your Asus, you'll have to buy something like a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi which slots into your express card slot, and simply replaces your existing, internal sound card. It is a bit on the expensive side, but it really is worth every penny. They should ship to UAE, but if not, it would be easier to buy one from a PC store in Dubai.

I highly recommend NOT buying a USB sound card. The transfer rates are far lower than express card, and as a result of this, performance is likely to suffer.

Just know with that expresscard your going to need a $20 dongle which connects to it and allows you to connect your 5.1 speakers. Center, Right & lleft, Back Left Right And Sub. :)
