I have known for a while that you can use your flash drive to boost the amount of RAM you have on vista, as seen here http://www.reviewsaurus.com/tips-tricks/windows-vista-use-your-flash-drive-as-ram/
Does this really work? By this i guess i mean, is it really the same as getting Ram. I have 4gb of ram, can i put in a flashdrive, and get 8gb (the max my computer will take i think)?
Also, can it be done with an SD card?
Thanks!![]()

It only really works for computers that cannot hold enough RAM for Vista to work well. Flash drives work around 15-30MB/s, while RAM is MUCH faster than that (GB/s).
You will not notice a difference. -
My SD card is 8gb class 6.
My flash drive is a 2gb kingston.
Is speed a problem? Does it take your existing RAM and just add to it, or replace it?
Sorry I saw a thread after I posted, but this does include a few more questions. Thanks again! -
