This may be a stupid question, but would I run into any problems using my 23" 1680x1050 LCD screen as my primary display with my sager2090?

Also here is a more important question: I want to be able to plug in my mouse and keyboard and monitor for when I'm gaming, and unplug on the go when I need to run. It would be nice to be able to close the laptop and shutdown the monitor while I do this. Is there a way to set it up to not put the computer in hibernate when I do this?

The Geforce 8600m supports up to 2560x1600 resolution, so you should be fine using your external LCD monitor as the primary display.

About your second question... you want to leave your laptop powered on while literally moving it? Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. When I need bring my laptop some where, I always shut it down or put it into hibernate/sleep mode. Leaving it on wastes battery power anyways.

Also, I recall Donald from Powernotebooks.com saying it's a bad idea to close the lid of the laptop while it's powered on because heat dissapates thru the keyboard. I've never noticed this being an issue on other laptops I've used. I usually keep the lid closed on my Dell laptop at work since I have 2 external monitors. Might be just a specific issue with the way the Sager NP2090s are designed.

Ok thanks for your help, I meant being able to hibernate it, unplug everything, and go.
With my last laptop I had to uninstall all the devices or risk windows making me log into my computer with my USB keyboard when it's not plugged in.

BTW: How do you setup windows to use the Fingerprint reader for logging in and the such?

These security features usually come with a disk, together with the drivers for the rest of your hardware components. You can't really configure from within windows. You need to install the provided software.

Thanks for answering this. I asked it in another thread somewhere but never saw an answer. I added to your "rep power" for that!

You should be just fine unplugging and then plugging back in when you return. It should just take a second for coming out of hibernation and to recognized the keyb/mouse.

This could be important, any powerful system is likely to generate more heat then needing to dissipate it. If I could not get an answer from Sager or someone I would monitor Temps with lid open and closed while using and decide if it matters or not, heat kills.

I have no idea but does anyone know if heat is detrimental to LCD's?

Yeah either you get it on the disc or if you want 32 bit vista you have to download it. Fingerprint reader is pretty simple, it'll run a set up asking you to swipe all ten fingers three times each. Then whenever you have a login field for a website or whatever, you first type in the into, then swipe which will put it into memory.

What happens if you have a cut on your finger later? Can you use a different finger?
Is it Linux compatible? Or is there a Linux program that can do this for me?

I was more thinking if involved in International espionage if you scan all ten the enemy only has to cut 1 off, if you scan 1 they have to figure out or carry ten with them! Kinda gives you the upper hand so to speak! Seriously if a cut stops it from working not good system, If that worked all any criminal would have to do is cut and scar their fingers after a crime. The term is I believe points of comparison, and they argue, how many do you need I think it is now 10 for a positive match, so a cut should not matter if it does oh well.
