Hi, I admit I know next to nothing about LCD displays, but I know I am eventually going to get one for my laptop. My vostro does not have a DVI output, how would I go about connecting an lcd display to it?
I'm sure there is some sort of adaptor, but how much loss in image quality will there be? will I be able to run high resolutions? Is there a card, or usb adaptor with a DVI output? Thank you in advance.

Lots (most?) LCD monitors have a regular good old VGA input, so you'd simply connect your Vostro's VGA output to the monitor. No adapters, no fuss. Just buy a monitor that has standard VGA input (many have both VGA and DVI, and a few years ago, for some monitors VGA was producing higher quality than DVI).

So I can run high resolutions with a vga cable with no bluriness?

Depends on the monitor. Most LCD's produce a better picture via DVI or HDMI connection (less blurriness, color saturation, and other issues).

Does your laptop have a HDMI port by any chance?

Lol, if it did I would not be asking this question :) It's a vostro so unfortunately it does not... pretty much the only thing it lacks really.

Hmm. It looks like you're stuck with using a VGA port. Kinda sucks. :(

There are VGA to DVI adapters, but I don't know what kind of quality difference, if any, they achieve.
