Has anybody used a laptop as a dvd player? I know that there's an adapter for video-out, to connect to a component cable, but I don't know wha it's called.

    thanks

The dvd player in my living room broke recently, so currently we have been connecting one of our laptops to the tv for use as a dvd player. It works fine except there is no remote control. Makes it kinda tedious....

That's what happened to me. No remote should be ok for awhile. Which adapter do you use?

There are a couple you can use.

This is from laptop to TV:

    S-video to RCA
    S-video to S-video
    DVI to DVI
    DVI to HDMI
    VGA to VGA (I think)

That is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Do I need a separate connector for audio out?

This is where HP laptops are great, as the have a nice Expansion Port 2 connector with a cable that handles all of this stuff with ease. :)
