    Hi,

I have 2 notebooks, one is Compaq Presario V2374AP and HP Pavillion DV9507tx.

I am happy with my HP Pavillion as it has everything and currently i want to upgrade my compaq. I sent a mail to HP Support, they replied after 2 days and said before giving me support they want my Serial Number, anyway i did not waste any time so i brough 1GB DDR 333MHZ Transcend RAM and 120GB 5400RPM Western digital Drive. now i want to upgrade my Processor too, I read on many forums that they were able to do...so, i want to know these things.

    1. In my device manager it shows 915GM/910 Chipset, so can i put a Intel Pentium M Processor ?

    2. If i can put an P-M Processor, Can i put 533Mhz CPU ? or only 400mhz ?

    3. Now i am from India, Where exactly can i buy Intel Mobile processor ? I have not seen one still and will HP Provide me, if so how much ?

Finally I need Drivers link and product specification link for V2374AP and i cant find anywhere on HP site.

    thanks
    john

With intel 915 chipset you can use Sonoma processors Pentium M 7*0.

In fact, more clever people have found that you can pin-mode pre-sonoma Pentium M 7*5 processors to make them work at 30% higher speed with 915 chipset. There was a long and detailed discussion of how to do that on www.notebookforums.com 2-3 years ago. You should get a very good (and not faked!) thermal paste like Arctic Silver V or Coollaboratory Liquid Pro that it would work reliably.

I may have given exact links to this pinmode procedure on this forum some 2 years ago.

I don't think that HP is the address to get parts for reasonable price. I don't know what to advice to you in India.
